Helleria brevicornis ‘Elba’

Common names: Unknown

Origin: Sardinia, Corsica, Elba, Parts of mainland Italy and France. Starter culture for this culture is from Elba.

Optimal temperature: 18-26 °C

Size: up to 2,7 cm

Enclosure: Deep substrate; bottom of substrate wetter, top layer dry, I use a piece of moss in the corner as a siphon for water.

Additional info: Very large pill bug, largest known fully terrestrial isopod that can roll into a ball. It mostly lives underground inside a substrate. Elban variant seems to be a bit lighter in overall color and has a more coarse pattern of their exoskeleton, making it appear ‘sandy’, but it’s still the same as other Helleria brevicornis sp.
