Origin: Mediterranean Basin

Size: up to 2,0 cm

Enclosure: Normal with 1/3rd wet part.

Additional info: Really large and calm species of rolling isopods. Armadillo officinalis are extremely easy to keep, get large really fast and are easy to handle. When this species rolls up into a ball, they start to run their legs against the inside of their exoskeleton, producing a chirping/hissing like sound. This culture originates from Lagos, Portugal and appears to have slightly wider bans at edges of segments comparing to their Mallorca counterpart.
